Interesting list. The Elliot Smith one's from the Good Will Hunting soundtrack right? Arcade Fire are great.

Never heard of Sixteen Horsepower, who are they? The rest is a fine selection ( Heavy Trash are my New Top Favourites!) apart from Rufus Wainwright, who in my opinion needs a good custard pie in the face.

The Elliot track IS from GWH CBB, you're bang on. Arcade Fire was the gig of the year!

I've heard Sixteen Horsepower described as 'Gothabilly' so possibly right up your street??
Heavy Trash are my new top faves as well. I think they may be touring early next year, so one to watch out for!

Aaaah, Alice, so much taste in one short song!

(You'd never have guessed that I might like The Sisters if I hadn't just mentioned this, would you? ;-)

Fantastic List. I think I had heard of 16 horsepower but couldn't have told you much more about them.

That's a pretty good ;ist isn't it?

I love "Western Skies" with all my heart.

'list' even...

Thanks Beth. The "25 Most" list never lies.

I love Western Skies as well. What's that instrument in there? Is it a Bouzouki? Reminds me of the theme tune to 'The Persauders'

I believe it's a marxophone.

I tried looking up my '25 Most Played' iPod tracks, but it's so skewed by the playlists I use for running that it's not actually representative of my taste. At least I hope not. That would make one of my all-time favourite songs 'Wild Dances' by Ruslana Lyhzicko.

Doesn't really explain how 'Puff the Magic Dragon' and 'How Much Is That Doggie In The Window' keep popping up in your top ten though, does it dear?

'How Much Is That Doggie In The Window' is about DRUGS!

WAS IT?! ..oh.. I mean.. Yeah I know, I was into it before they ever even recorded it. I loved that tune in primary school. That and 'Heroin' by The Velvet Underground

If you think listening to U2 is bad... you know how you sometimes listen to bad music when you're drunk? One of my current faves is (I shit you not) Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice. I hope this doesn't see me banned from blogs which link from Andrew Collins and so demand a certain degree of taste! Andrew likes Girls Aloud afterall.

You won't get banned from here for a guilty pleasure like 'Ice Ice..'. Even if he was the worlds least credible rapper/jetskier/motocross champion. As for Girls Aloud they may be a great girl vocal group who perform polished pop songs. I just don't like female(or male) vocal groups that perform polished pop songs. Unless it's Dion and the Belmonts.
