A forest

So, to a quick gig review of Elbow, in Delamere Forest, Cheshire on Saturday night.  It was forecast rain, but the sun does always shine on the righteous, and the rain held off.

The new album is all over the TV (ITV's Euro 2008 coverage) and radio at the moment, with One Day Like This likely to be the anthem of the summer (assuming we have one this year).  Even Ken Bruce seems to like them, which would normally put me right off.

The show was every bit as good as anticipated, they really seem to be at the top of their game. For me, The Seldom Seen Kid is their best ever.  Plenty of highlights, including the haunting Loneliness of a Tower Crane Driver, the aforementioned One Day and a beautifully delivered Scattered Black and Whites as the closing song.  Richard Hawley turned up in person to guest, as he does on the record, on The Fix.  Alas, no Switching Off or Powder Blue, but you can't have everything.

Guests I Am Kloot were outstanding also.  Here's a song by them.

Ohhhhh, I've never heard 'Scattered Black & Whites' live - I'm very jealous!
