I'm fed up with it with it not really knowing what it wants to be. They seem to grab an issue from the seventies (racism; IRA; serial killers) for a plot and shoehorn it into this hotch-potch of of The Sweeney meets The Time Tunnel. This was quite cute for the first series but now it's starting to grate.
I think they should get rid of 'conscience' Sam (and rubbish Annie) , so we can just watch Gene Hunt beating people up every week. I know it's only scheduled for two series, but for my money it's struggling get to the end of the second!

Like you, I'm just waiting for the end of the second series to find out just why Sam is there - and Gene Hunt deserves a spin-off show of his own.
Agreed. I feel a little guilty about slating it. There are still some great moments. The 'Camberwick Green' opening last week was inspired. Sam and Annie just grate now though...
